A Review of Marriott Hotels in Europe

Towards the end of my time as a travelling management consultant I spent about 4 months working in Singapore, living out of hotels. I decided to use the time to explore some of Singapore's glamorous Marriott offering and I'm here today to share my experience.

If you're looking for Marriott hotels in Singapore check out my post and for Marriott hotels in Australia check out my other post

Moxy Brussels City Centre (Booking link)

3 | ~US$88/ night

The highlights:

  • The decor, the bar, the vibe - it's a place that really makes you feel happy

  • The room are comfortable and clean

  • A free drink (house cocktail, with or without alcohol) in the hotel bar

The lowlights:

  • This hotel is a 30 minuets walk (or 10 minute scooter ride) from the city centre - be aware before you book

Elite benefits

  • Either 500 points per stay or US$10 per person (the money is almost always better value)

Swindon Marriott Hotel (Booking link)

4 | ~US$80/ night

Our first hotel stay after moving to the Northern hemisphere was a special delight when we were upgraded to a 1-bedroom suite!

The highlights:

  • The beautiful suite with dining and living area

  • The local touches in the lobby including pillars decorated with cartoon maps of the Cotswolds

  • The wonderful breakfast spread and breakfast staff

The lowlights:

  • If you're staying here as a base to explore the Cotswolds be aware that Swindon is outside the Cotswolds so you'll have to drive in. The value for money was much greater here than in the Cotswolds which is why we opted to stay in Swindon

Elite benefits

  • Free breakfast and the chance of a room upgrade

Moxy York (Booking link)

3 | ~US$80/ night

The highlights:

  • The signature Moxy vibe, with relevant wall art, menus and quotes

  • A free house cocktail (or cocktail) which we had while playing Monopoly York edition - the bar has an awesome selection of board game and reading material and would make for a fun night out

  • Walking distance to the centre of town

The lowlights:

  • This is a basic room but good value for the price

Elite benefits

  • Either 500 points per stay or US$10 per person (the money is almost always better value)

Moxy Bergen (Booking link)

3 | ~US$85/ night

The highlights:

  • We were upgraded to a sea view room and the views of the bay and the sea were beautiful

  • As always, the Moxy swag was impressive, with a particular shoutout to the breakfast signs in this hotel

  • Great value for money (given how expensive Norway is generally)

  • The usual Moxy free check-in drink

The lowlights:

  • As with most Moxy hotels, this is slightly outside the city centre but it's a 20 minute walk or 10 minute scooter ride to the centre

  • The room is small but comfortable if you're only planning to sleep

Elite benefits

  • Either 500 points per stay or US$10 per person (the money is almost always better value)
